Choosing the Right Cone Style and Trim Shape
Option Description Best suited for
Deep-cone (low-glare) The LED and reflector sit deeper inside the housing, shielding the light source from direct view Hospitality, residential, and any space where occupant comfort and visual quality matter
Flat-cone Lower-profile cone, lighter appearance on the ceiling Commercial offices, retail, and utility spaces where glare control is less critical
Round trim Standard circular aperture, most common in ceiling installations Any application; the universal default
Square trim Square aperture for a contemporary architectural look Modern residential, boutique retail, and design-forward commercial interiors
Choosing the Right Beam Angle
  • 12°: Very tight, high-contrast accent beam. Available on the 1.5-inch (15C1031) and 2-inch square (2F1031B) models. Ideal for art lighting, jewelry cases, and small feature objects.
  • 15°: Tight accent beam with slightly more spread than 12°. Available on 3.5-inch and larger round deep-cone models. Suits artwork and display lighting.
  • 24°: Medium accent beam available on all models. The most versatile choice for focused accent and retail display lighting.
  • 38°: Wider accent or task beam available on all models. Good for illuminating wider surfaces such as feature walls and larger art pieces.
  • 50°: Broad distribution, available on selected models. Useful when the directional head is used for ambient fill rather than tight accent.
  • 60°: Wide ambient beam on selected larger models. Maximizes coverage per fixture while retaining the directional aim capability.

Narrower beams create higher contrast and a more dramatic accent effect. Wider beams soften shadows and increase coverage area per fixture.

Choosing the Right Color Temperature
  • 2700K: Warm white, cozy and inviting. Best for hospitality lounges, residential living areas, and warm retail environments.
  • 3000K: Soft white, slightly crisper than 2700K. Popular for kitchens, hotel guest rooms, and boutique retail.
  • 3500K: Neutral white, balanced and versatile. Suits multi-purpose offices and collaborative spaces.
  • 4000K: Cool white, clean and alert. Common in commercial retail displays and office task areas.
  • 5000K: Cool daylight, high contrast. Used in task-intensive commercial environments where visual clarity matters most.

The 5CCT selector lets you set the color temperature at installation without stocking separate SKUs for each zone of a project.

Dimming and Driver Notes
  • Triac dimming: Compatible with most standard leading-edge and trailing-edge Triac dimmers. Confirm dimmer compatibility before installation.
  • 0-10V dimming: Available on 120–277V and 347V configurations. Integrates cleanly into building automation and lighting control systems. Requires a 0-10V compatible control device.
  • The isolated flicker-free metal driver reduces electrical interference and eliminates visible flicker at all dimming levels.
  • Input voltage options: 100–130V, 100–277V, and 100–347V (optional). Confirm your site voltage before ordering.
Where to Use It and Layout Tips
  • Retail and showrooms: Use the directional head to aim 24° or 38° beams at merchandise displays. Ra90 renders product colors accurately. Adjust the head to track displays as merchandise changes.
  • Art galleries and feature walls: 12° to 15° beams on small accent models for maximum contrast on paintings and sculptures.
  • Hospitality (hotels, restaurants, lobbies): Deep-cone low-glare models at 2700K to 3000K for a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Dimming to 20 to 30% at night creates an intimate ambiance.
  • Residential living rooms and bedrooms: 5CCT adjustable at 2700K to 3000K with Triac dimming for flexible everyday use.
  • Offices: 3500K to 4000K with 38° to 50° beam for even task lighting. 0-10V dimming for lighting control system integration.
  • Corridors and circulation spaces: Directional head lets you aim at architectural features or wash side walls for texture, rather than pointing straight down.

For new construction, confirm IC and airtight ratings meet local energy code requirements before specifying the fixture.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far does the head tilt and rotate?
The spec sheet describes the head as adjustable tilt-and-rotate. For exact tilt range in degrees, refer to the dimensional drawings in the spec sheet or contact us for project-specific confirmation.

Can I change the beam angle after installation?
Beam angle is determined at time of order by the optic specified in the product code. It cannot be changed in the field without replacing the optic module. Select the beam angle for your intended application before ordering.

What is the difference between the C1031, C1031B, and F1031B model families?
The C1031 series is round deep-cone in sizes from 1.5-inch to 5.5-inch. The C1031B series is also round deep-cone but covers 3-inch to 6-inch sizes with slightly different housing profiles. The F1031B series has a square flat-cone trim in 2-inch to 6-inch sizes. All three families share the same COB LED, CCT, and dimming options.

Is this fixture IC rated?
Yes. The PivotPro is both IC rated (safe for direct insulation contact) and airtight rated, making it suitable for both remodel and new construction in insulated ceilings.

Does the 347V option change the model code?
The 347V input option is specified at order time. Contact us to confirm the correct configuration for 347V installations.
