How to Order

Build your product code by selecting a model (size and wattage), wattage, diameter, frame type, trim color, and reflector color. When the Integrated frame (I) is selected, the trim color and reflector color must match. The example below shows a 1-inch model at 7W, 35 mm diameter, with Integrated frame in Shiny Black.

IP66 Rating and Sealed Construction Explained

IP66 is a dual-digit protection rating: the first digit (6) means fully dust-tight with no ingress of dust under any conditions. The second digit (6) means the fixture withstands powerful water jets from any direction without harmful ingress.

This makes IP66 suitable for:

  • Walk-in showers and steam rooms where the fixture may be directly hit by water spray
  • Outdoor soffits, eaves, and covered walkways exposed to rain and wind-driven water
  • Commercial kitchen ceilings subject to cleaning with pressure washers
  • Sauna and spa environments where both humidity and condensation are continuous

The AquaEdge achieves IP66 through three layered sealing systems working together: a double waterproof silicone rubber ring at the trim interface, a waterproof joint at the LED assembly, and plastic heat-shrink tubing protecting the wiring connections.

Frame Types: Integrated vs. Reflector Cover

Two frame configurations are available:

  • Integrated (I): The trim ring and reflector are finished in the same color as a unified assembly. When ordering, the trim color code and reflector color code must be identical (for example, SB-SB or MW-MW). The integrated frame produces a cleaner, more seamless appearance when the fixture is viewed from below. This is the most commonly specified configuration.
  • Reflector Cover (RC): The outer trim ring and the inner reflector are separate components and can be ordered in different colors, allowing two-tone combinations (for example, MW trim with MB reflector). The RC configuration suits design-forward installations where the contrast between the outer frame and the reflector interior is intentional.

Both frame types maintain the IP66 rating. The interchangeable trim system allows the frame to be changed without replacing the fixture body.

Choosing the Right Beam Angle
  • 10°: Very tight, high-contrast accent beam. Available on 1-inch to 3-inch models only. Suited to accent lighting of small objects, shelf displays, and architectural details where a sharp beam edge is wanted.
  • 15°: Tight accent with slightly more spread. Available on all models. Suits artwork, niche lighting, and feature walls.
  • 24°: Medium accent, the most versatile beam. Available on all models. Good for task lighting and focused accent in bathrooms and kitchens.
  • 36°: Broader accent or ambient. Available on all models. Provides comfortable fill light for smaller spaces.
  • 55°: Wide ambient coverage. Available on all models. Use in bathrooms and utility areas where even general illumination is the priority over accent effect.

For tilt-adjustable versions, a narrower beam (10° to 24°) is generally more useful because tilt is typically used to concentrate light on a feature. Wider beams at an angle can create visible asymmetric illumination on the ceiling around the fixture.

Where to Use It
  • Bathrooms and en-suites: The IP66 rating covers shower enclosures, steam rooms, and ceiling zones directly above bathtubs. Ra90 color rendering makes tile grout lines, skin tones, and fixtures appear accurate.
  • Saunas and spa areas: The sealed construction handles the extreme humidity and temperature cycling of sauna environments. Confirm operating temperature range with your electrician before installation in high-heat applications.
  • Kitchens: Above worktops and over sinks, the IP66 rating protects against steam, condensation, and splashing. The tilt-adjustable version can aim down onto counter surfaces precisely.
  • Covered exteriors, eaves, and soffits: Protected from direct rain and wind-driven water. The compact 1-inch and 2-inch models fit shallow soffit depths.
  • Walkways and covered outdoor areas: Suitable for covered paths, pergolas, and commercial entries where the fixture is exposed to the elements.
  • Hospitality and residential wet rooms: The eight trim finish options allow the fixture to match or contrast with tile, stone, and fixture hardware across a wide range of interior design palettes.
Installation Notes
  • Installation in wet areas, particularly shower zones and sauna ceilings, must comply with local electrical codes. In Canada, consult the CEC for zone ratings and minimum IP requirements for your specific installation location.
  • Confirm the ceiling cutout size against your model before cutting. Cutout sizes range from 40 mm (1-inch model) to 138 mm (5-inch model). See the dimensions table in "Specifications at a Glance" for exact values per model.
  • Use a dimmer rated for LED loads and compatible with the AquaEdge driver. Confirm compatibility before installation.
  • For tilt-adjustable versions, set the tilt angle before securing the fixture in the ceiling. Some adjustment is possible after installation by partially releasing the spring clips.
  • When selecting the Integrated frame (I), ensure the trim color code and reflector color code in the order match.
  • Installation should be completed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local electrical codes.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I install the AquaEdge directly inside a shower enclosure?
Yes. IP66 is rated for protection against high-pressure water jets from any direction, which covers direct shower spray. Confirm the specific installation zone with your electrician against local electrical code requirements for wet areas.

What is the difference between the 15C1039 and 24C1039 if both are 1-inch at 7W?
Both are 1-inch, 7W models but differ in outer diameter and cutout size. The 15C1039 has a 35 mm diameter and 40 mm cutout. The 24C1039 has a 45 mm diameter and 50 mm cutout. Select based on the available ceiling hole or which fits better within your tile layout.

Can I mix trim and reflector colors on the same fixture?
Yes, but only with the Reflector Cover (RC) frame. If you select the Integrated (I) frame, the trim color and reflector color must match. See "Frame Types" above for details.

What is Ra90 vs. Ra80?
The spec sheet lists the CRI as Ra80 in the technical table (page 2). The features section describes Ra90+. Confirm with us at time of order which CRI applies to your specific configuration.

Does the tilt adjustment affect the IP66 rating?
The sealed construction maintains the IP rating at all tilt positions within the 0 to 30° range. The waterproof joints and seals are designed to accommodate the tilt movement without breaking the seal.

What voltage configurations are available?
Standard options are 100 to 130V and 100 to 277V. The 100 to 347V configuration is optional and suited to Canadian commercial electrical systems. Specify the voltage at time of order.
