The fixture runs entirely on solar energy. During daylight hours, the 3W panel charges the two 18650 lithium batteries through the connecting cable. At night, the batteries power the LED heads whenever the motion sensor is triggered.

Because the solar panel mounts independently on its own bracket, you can position it on a south-facing wall, roof edge, or fence post to maximize sun exposure, while the light itself mounts wherever coverage is needed, even in shade. The cable between the panel and the fixture allows for flexible placement of both components.

For best charging performance, mount the panel in a location that receives at least 6 hours of direct sunlight per day. Avoid mounting it under overhangs, behind trees, or in shadow from the building.

• Detection range: Up to 50 ft (15 m) from the sensor.
• Detection angle: 180° horizontal field, covering the full front arc of the fixture.
• Recommended height: 6 to 10 ft above ground. Lower mounting reduces the detection field; higher mounting may cause the sensor to miss motion close to the wall.
• Aim the sensor: Position the fixture so the sensor faces the approach path you want to monitor. The PIR sensor works by detecting heat differential, so clear the area in front of it of obstructions like overgrown shrubs.
• Cold weather: PIR sensors can have reduced sensitivity in very cold temperatures (-20°C) because the heat differential between a person and the ambient air is smaller. Performance is still functional but detection range may be slightly reduced in extreme cold.

• Garages: Mount above the door at 8 to 10 ft. Aim one head at the driveway approach and the other at the walkway beside the garage.
• Front and back entrances: Mount beside or above the door. The 180° sensor covers the full path from gate or sidewalk to the door.
• Side yards and fences: The dual heads allow one to cover the yard and one to illuminate the path along the fence line.
• Sheds and outbuildings: Fully solar means no wiring runs needed to remote structures. Mount the panel on the sunny side and the light above the entry.
• Walkways and paths: Aim both heads downward and forward to light the walking surface rather than the approach from a distance.

For the solar panel, the ideal mounting location faces south (in Canada) and is unobstructed from roughly 9am to 3pm to capture the peak charging window.

• No electrician or wiring is required. The fixture runs on solar and battery only.
• Mount the light head at 6 to 10 ft above ground for optimal PIR sensor performance.
• Mount the solar panel separately at the location with the best sun exposure. Route the cable along the wall or eave and secure it with the included hardware.
• Both square heads adjust independently after mounting. Loosen the head pivot, aim, and retighten.
• The fixture is IP54 rated. It handles rain and splashing water but is not designed for submersion or direct high-pressure spray.
• Charge the batteries fully before first use by leaving the solar panel in direct sun for a full day.
• In winter, clear snow or ice from the solar panel surface to maintain charging performance.

Does it work without sun during the day?
The fixture relies on the solar panel to charge the batteries. On overcast days the panel still charges, but more slowly. After several consecutive heavily overcast days, battery charge may be reduced. The 2000mAh batteries provide a reserve, but sustained cloudy weather over multiple days can reduce runtime at night.

Can I aim the two heads in different directions?
Yes. Both square heads are independently adjustable. You can aim them at different angles to cover two separate areas from a single mount point.

How far away can the solar panel be from the light?
The distance is limited by the length of the included connecting cable. If you need a longer run, contact us to confirm cable extension options before installation.

Is this suitable for Canadian winters?
Yes. The operating range goes down to -20°C (-4°F), which covers most Canadian winter conditions. Solar charging is reduced in winter due to shorter days and lower sun angle, so position the panel to maximize exposure. Clear snow from the panel after heavy snowfall.

Does the light stay on all night or only when motion is detected?
The fixture is motion-activated. It turns on when the sensor detects movement and turns off after a set time with no further motion. This conserves battery charge for reliable operation across multiple nights.

What is the IP54 rating?
IP54 means the fixture is protected against dust ingress sufficient to prevent harmful deposits, and against water splashing from any direction. It is suitable for outdoor installation in rain and snow but should not be directly submerged or hit with a pressure washer.
